Cottage Food Permit

A cottage food permit is a registration, license, or formal certification that some states and localities require producers to obtain before making or selling homemade food products from a residential kitchen. Permit and registration requirements vary widely across the country — some states require no registration whatsoever, others require registration with a state agriculture or health agency, and some jurisdictions impose additional local health department requirements on top of state requirements.
